In collaboration with the amazing team at Lewis, we developed an interactive website that celebrates bourbon's rich history and Kentucky's authority of the spirit, offering bourbon fans of all levels an engaging digital experience while they prepare for their time on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®. This platform provides a seamless, user-friendly way for users to plan trips, explore distilleries, and discover more of what Kentucky tourism has to offer.

The Challenge
The Kentucky Bourbon Trail® has become a global attraction since its inception in 1999, growing from 7 to 46 and counting member distilleries. As the Bourbon Trail™ evolved, it became more imperative for the website to evolve too, with new functionality and features to reflect the growing list of distillery profiles, tourism partners and experiences offered both on and off the Bourbon Trail™.
Brand Makeover
We had to find a balance between making the website visually appealing and ensuring its functionality was intuitive and accessible to all users. While Lewis took the lead with the overall site strategy, user experience and designs, which brought to life the new Bourbon Trail™ brand identity, we handled the backend of the website, working through the technical aspects of their designs and providing solutions for the inevitable roadblocks throughout the development process. As the front and back end of the website were fleshed out, we built a redesigned digital experience that reinforced Kentucky's authority in bourbon.
Scalable for 46 Distilleries and Growing
We built a secure, robust CMS that each distillery can log into and update their distillery details themselves as they grow and change with the seasons. As well, the system will comfortably allow the addition of more distilleries as they join the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®.
Include a interactive map and with styling to match the brand
Every website visitor can now search and discover their favorite distilleries by filtering by region, amenities, experiences and more, making it easy to plan your trip based on your preferences.
Our Solution
We began the project by consulting with Lewis through several discovery sessions, refining their goals to provide them with feedback on feasibility, project scope, upfront game planning and scheduling. What resulted is a completely reimagined Kentucky Bourbon Trail® that encourages greater exploration, slowing down and savoring the moment in an online experience that's easier to understand, map, navigate, plan and enjoy. The new site now incorporates travel accommodations, things to do, and places to visit, stay and enjoy a great meal.
Each of the 46 distilleries now have their own, independent secure login enabling them to update details about their distillery, such as open hours, special events, food options, and much more.
We also built the landing page for the Worldwide Toast to Kentucky Bourbon - a 24-hour global live-stream event that welcomed participants from 32 countries across six continents. The landing page served as the hub of information and live-stream access point for the event that brought the world together, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® with a toast to America's Native Spirit.
